Manage per-page titles and meta descriptions for every page on a client's hosted website: homepage, interior pages, blog posts, glossary terms, and index pages.
Overview
The Marketing SEO page lets you manage the title and meta description for every page on a client's hosted website. It covers the homepage, all interior pages, blog posts, glossary terms, and index pages. Each row shows the current title (with a character count gauge for recommended lengths) and meta description. You can edit any field and save changes individually. Changes go live immediately on the client's site.
How to use this page
- 1Browse all pages by group
The page groups pages into Defaults, Pages, Index Pages, Blog, and Glossary. Defaults set fallback values for any page without a custom override. Each group can be expanded and collapsed.
- 2Search for a specific page
Use the search box above the groups to filter by page label or path. Results narrow in real time as you type.
- 3Edit a page title
Click the title field on any row to edit it. The field shows a character count gauge: stay under 60 characters for the best Google display. Interior pages get the site name suffix automatically in preview (e.g., 'Page Title | Site Name'). The homepage and blog/glossary detail pages use absolute titles.
- 4Edit a meta description
Click the description field to edit the meta description. The field shows a character count gauge targeting 140-160 characters for the best Google snippet display.
- 5Edit an OG image
Pages that support Open Graph images show an OG image field. Click to set or update the image URL for social sharing previews.
- 6Save individual changes
Each row has its own Save button that appears when you make edits. Click Save to persist the new title, description, or OG image. The page reflects the saved values immediately. If you clear a field and save, the value reverts to the default.
What the buttons do
Common questions
What pages can I manage SEO for?
Default templates (fallback values), interior pages, index pages (e.g., blog index and glossary index), individual blog posts, and individual glossary terms. Each has its own group.
What happens if I clear a field and save?
The value reverts to the default (from the Defaults group). The row will use the fallback title or description until a new custom value is set.
What is the recommended title length?
Stay at 60 characters or fewer for the best Google search result display. The character gauge turns from gray to amber near 60 as a visual cue.
What is the recommended description length?
Aim for 140-160 characters for the best Google snippet display. The gauge shows three bands: short (under 140), target range (140-160), and long (over 160).
Are my changes live immediately?
Yes. SEO changes are saved to the database and reflected on the client's hosted website immediately after clicking Save. No deploy or rebuild is needed.
