Overview

Practice call lets you roleplay a campaign with your manager playing the prospect while you read the same live teleprompter the Campaign Dialer uses. Open it with Practice call on the campaign's Calling Context tab, in its Start a Dial Session card, or in Tools > Campaign Context. It works on paused and unlaunched campaigns and leaves their status alone. Practice never dials prospects and never creates contacts, dial sessions or call logs, so it never counts toward campaign stats or reports. Sales demo campaigns do not offer it.

How to use this page

  1. Choose how to practice

Pick Call my manager's phone to have your browser ring your manager's phone, or Browser links to open a practice room in your browser and send your manager a link. Your choice and your manager's number are remembered in this browser.

  2. Fill in the details

For a phone practice, enter your manager's 10 digit number and pick Your caller ID from the lines assigned to you for this client. If none are assigned, use Browser links. Optionally add the Prospect name, Company and Title your manager will play, so the teleprompter can use them.

  3. Decide whether to record

Record this call is off by default. Turn it on to save the call so you can play it back, download it, or email it to the client afterward. Only recorded calls are saved.

  4. Start the call

Choose Start practice call and allow microphone access. In phone mode the status reads Ringing your manager, then Live practice with a timer once they answer. In Browser links mode it reads Waiting for your manager to open the link; copy the link with Copy manager link and send it to them.

  5. Read the teleprompter

Talk as you would on a real call. The teleprompter suggests lines from the campaign's Calling Context as your manager speaks, and the Calling Context sits below it. Use the size menu to change the reading size, and the microphone button to mute. Choose End practice when you are done.

  6. Review saved practice calls

Saved practice calls, at the bottom, lists this campaign's recorded practice calls with the date, who called, the mode, the prospect name and the length. A recording shows Recording is processing for a few minutes after the call ends. Then you can play it or choose Download. SalesHive staff can also choose Email to client.

  7. Email a recording to the client

Choose Email to client. SalesHive drafts the email from the campaign context and what was said on the call, then shows the whole email: To (client contacts on file are suggested), Cc, Subject and Message, plus the attached recording. Edit anything, or choose Rewrite draft. Nothing sends until you choose Send this email. It goes from your own SalesHive mailbox with your signature, and the call then shows when and to whom it was emailed.

Common questions

No. Practice creates no contacts, dial sessions or call logs, so nothing counts toward the campaign's stats or reports. It also does not launch or resume a paused campaign.
A practice room page that says they are the prospect. They choose Join the practice call, allow their microphone, and can mute or leave. They see your current teleprompter line and the live conversation as it happens, and can show the campaign's calling context. The page also says when the call is recorded.
It works for that one practice call and expires after 6 hours. In Browser links mode, the room ends when you leave, but not when your manager leaves. In phone mode, the practice ends when your manager hangs up.
Practice only rings your manager. A number on the client's blocklist, stored on one of its prospects, or already dialed by its dialer is refused. Use your manager's own number, or switch to Browser links.
Phone mode rings from a calling line you may use for this client, chosen the same way as the dialer's. If none is assigned, use Browser links, or ask an admin to assign a line.
SDRs and client logins see their own recorded practice calls. Other SalesHive staff, such as managers and strategists, see everyone's for the campaign.
The practice teleprompter leaves out Report a problem, and practice calls keep no teleprompter call history.
