Overview

Use Contacts > Email Validation to check a cleaned prospect CSV before outreach. The page stays scoped to the selected client, previews unique valid addresses and excluded rows before validation credits are used, tracks the asynchronous job, shows credits saved across completed lists, and provides a merged result file with a verdict on every original row.

How to use this page

  1. Select the client and open Email Validation

Choose the client from the switcher, then open Platform > Contacts > Email Validation. Validation jobs, credit counts, and result files stay scoped to that client. If no client is selected, choose one before uploading.

  2. Upload and preview a cleaned CSV

Drop a CSV into the upload area or click Choose CSV. Files can be up to 15 MB and must contain a header row plus at least one data row. The page detects common email headers, or you can choose the email column manually. Review total rows, unique emails to validate, duplicates skipped, and blank or malformed rows skipped before using credits.

  3. Start validation

Click Validate N unique emails after reviewing the credit preview. Only unique, nonblank, correctly shaped addresses are submitted. On a self-serve plan, the preview instead shows your daily email checks, shared with contacts checked before sending, and how many are left in the last 24 hours. If the file has more unique emails than are left, the button is disabled and the page asks you to split the file or try again later. Recent results for the same client and the same normalized set of addresses can be reused without additional validation credits, even when CSV row order or other columns changed. The revised output preserves your uploaded rows and columns. Reuse requires complete readable results validated within seven days and retains the original validation date. The summary band counts excluded rows from completed lists as Credits saved.

  4. Monitor the job and download results

Watch Validation history for progress, completion, or failure. A completed job shows Valid, Catch-all, Invalid, and Unknown totals. Click Download results to get the original rows with validation status, safe-to-send, and timestamp columns. Completed files also appear in the client Agents Files tab.

What the buttons do

Choose CSV
Selects a CSV file up to 15 MB for local analysis before validation credits are used. After a file is selected, the same control reads Choose another.
Email column
Selects which CSV column contains the addresses when automatic header detection does not choose the right column.
Validate unique emails
Submits the exact unique, valid email count shown in the credit preview for validation. On a self-serve plan it is disabled when the file has more unique emails than the checks left today.
Validation history
Shows processing progress, verdict totals, errors, and completed jobs for the selected client.
Download results
Downloads the original CSV rows with validation status, safe-to-send, and validation timestamp columns.

Common questions

Upload a CSV no larger than 15 MB with a header row and at least one data row. One job accepts up to 10,000 unique valid email addresses. Export spreadsheet files as CSV first.
Only unique, nonblank, correctly shaped email addresses are submitted. Duplicate addresses, blank cells, and malformed addresses are excluded before the credit preview and submission. Reused recent results do not use credits or self-serve checks.
Self-serve plans include a daily number of email checks per seat, shared between CSV uploads here and contacts checked before sending. The count covers a rolling 24 hours, and an upload counts as soon as it starts. If two files are uploaded at once, they are checked one after the other against what is left, so the second can be refused even though the button looked available. A file larger than what is left is refused before anything is checked, so split it into smaller files or try again later. An upload that stalls before its emails are sent for checking stops counting after 10 minutes. If your plan is not active, checks pause until you restart it on Plan and billing.
Credits saved is the running total of duplicate, blank, and malformed rows excluded from completed validation lists before credits were used. The upload preview shows the same exclusions for the file you are reviewing.
Duplicate addresses use one validation result. The downloaded result keeps every original row and adds the same status and safe-to-send result for that address.
Every original row receives a validation status, safe-to-send flag, and validation timestamp. Valid, catch-all, invalid, unknown, missing, and invalid-format values can appear depending on the row and result.
Download the result from Validation history. The completed CSV is also delivered to the selected client's Agents Files tab.
The same file, email column, and client were submitted recently. The page reuses the existing job instead of charging validation credits again.
Wait for the active job to finish in Validation history. Then upload the revised CSV to reuse eligible completed results. Check Validation history before uploading again after a failure or duplicate-list message. If no report is available, contact support.
Check Validation history first. If prompted, refresh and sign in again and verify the selected client. Split an oversized CSV into smaller files. An error does not establish that validation finished or that another upload is needed.
